An introduction to MYOG, Upcycling and Repairing
In this MYOG (Make Your Own Gear), Upcycling and Repairing workshop you will learn some of the principles
of how to make make useful and practical items from recycled materials. You will be using a vintage sewing
machine capable of sewing heavy weight fabrics. The workshp will be delivered over three two-hour sessions,
each of which will cover different skills through the completion of a small project.
By the end of this workshop you will be able to operate a sewing machine, cut and
salvage fabric, join fabric using seams and closures, as well
as create your own basic patterns.
This is a beginner workshop and is aimed at those who have done little or no sewing,
as well those with an interest in making and repairing. Other workshops will be
available for those with prior experience.
All materials are included in the course fee

Make Your Own Worker Jacket
In this workshop you will learn how to create a worker-style jacket from start to finish.
You will start from a paper pattern which you can adapt to your own size and
style.
The workshop will be delivered over four two-hour sessions, each of which will cover a
different stage from pattern cutting to construction, and finishing.
By the end of this workshop you will be able to accurately cut fabric based on a
pattern and be able to assemble a simple garment.
All materials can be provided, but you are encouraged to source your own fabric and
thread. Details of these requirements will be available on sign-up and fabric e.g.
denim can be provided at an additional cost of £20.
This workshop is aimed at those with some sewing experience, ideally those who have
completed my introduction to MYOG workshop.
Learn how to design and make your own multi-purpose toolbelt
Learn how to design and make your own multi purpose toolbelt.
In this workshop you will learn how to make the components of a toolbelt as you design and make yours using heavy duty fabric such as canvas and webbing. As well as fabrics we will work with different fastenings, pockets and zips.
At the end of the workshop you will have created a unique item.
We will use upcycled fabric where possible and will cover techniques on how to dismantle and salvage materials.
